![]() Bill Ward was born in Ocean City, Maryland in 1919, drew girls from an early age, attended Brooklyn's Pratt Institute of Art in his late teens and quickly climbed to the top of the comics game before being drafted into WWII. While enlisted, he re-connected with his love of drawing women and launched what his legendary TORCHY comics -- wherein the world could feast its eyes on the bosomy delights of Ward's imagination! Somewhere in the late fifties, Ward began introducing a raven-haired dominatrix who counter-balanced his busty blonde gold-diggers with a sense of bewitching evil lust. The dark figure reflected Ward's great and tortured love for his first wife, a buxom British heiress who left him after a few short years. Ward was emotionally devastated and from then on drew variations of her for the rest of his life. Indeed, the 50s saw Ward dominating the girly pulp digests, like HUMORAMA, JEST, GAZE and JOKER; the 60s saw Ward appearing on First Niter and After Hours books; the 70s saw him on Eros-Goldstripe publications; and the 80s saw him in and around adult magazines of all stripes. Though recently deceased (in 1998), Bill Ward and his women will live forever in our hearts. New titles will be added as they become available. |
